Training for Certified Beer Sommelier

Goal of the training is imparting beer knowledge on the highest scientific level that enables the certified sommelier to advise customers of a brewery, purchasing agents as well as guests and restaurant proprietors. Beer sommeliers are experts on one hand that inform guests about the production process of the beer, selecting the right beer for the chosen meal and the positive health benefits of moderate beer consumption.

The beer sommelier is also responsible for the quality of the beer served to the guest and its perfect presentation. He creates the beer menu, advises the cook with beer meals and organizes beer purchases. The education is completed with an evaluation of papers regarding the creation of a beer meal and a beer menu, with a practical sensory test to detect and describe different beer varieties and categories as also sensory beer defects, an oral exam in the beer presentation sector in gastronomy and two written exams after the first education phase and at the end of the course.

The courses from October 25th to November 6th 2010, March 14th to 25th 2011 and additional course March 28th to April 08th 2011 are already fully booked. You can only register for the waiting-list.

The course fee of 2,450 €  includes 100 units, lunch, all beer samples, the costs for field trips, tasting, beer brewing, training materials as well as the examination fees for part I and part II. Traveling and accommodation costs are not included.

Members of Doemens e.V., BierIG and employees of the patrons (brewing organizations) will receive a 50 € discount!

Registration: Maximum no. of participants: 16 persons.

A registration fee of 200 € is due with registration that is deducted from the course fee. With cancellation of up to 2 months prior to the course, 150 € will be reimbursed. With cancellation up to 4 weeks before there will be no reimbursement of the application fee. The full course fee is due for payment with cancellations less than 4 weeks prior.
