DOEMENS PILOT MALTING PLANT
The malting equipment enables the production of malt in batches of up to 200 kg of barley.
Steeping, germination and kilning are realized in a single unit. The grain bed of the germinating barley is turned according to the Lausmann principle between two germination compartments. One compartment serves as the steeping chamber, and the other, as a single deck high performance kiln.
The capacity of the plant is adjusted to the needs of the educational and research brewery, thus allowing new barley and wheat varieties as well as alternative grains to be malted on a pilot scale. They are subsequently tested in brewing trials on a 5 hl scale.
